The wind was high as I made my raft out of two canoe’s and a piece of rope. My team and me carried our raft down to the waters edge. The water was cold and rough. We clambered in and set off.
I was glad I didn’t have to put a wet suit on (because they were wet and hard to put on). When we got round the corner we were racing the other boat. We were catching up fast, (or they were just going slower than we were). We kept rowing. When we got round the bend we stopped in a part of the river on the side, out of the roaring wind.
The instructor told us that if, when he said “if you have…..” we would have to stand up and swap with someone else standing up. When Osian stood up and was swapping with someone he jumped onto the other side of the raft and Elze fell in backwards and then couldn’t get back in afterwards. That was quite funny to me and some others but maybe not for Elze. When he said stand up if you have a dog I had to stand up and swap with Charlie from Templeton school. When i was going to cross the plank of wood…….SPLASH!!! I fell into the water and got my only pair of trainers soaking wet and after canoeing I had climbing.
But luckily when we had finished canoeing and had gone to get changed Mili Hughes had a spare pair of trainers that she let me borrow for climbing and then the disco afterwards. To me falling in was the best part of the canoeing. I had lots of fun.
