Stand up padle bourding at Llanion cove

It was the first day we were there, at Llanion cove, and I am not going to lie that I thought this activity was going to be my least favourite. It had been raining on and off all day and I was glad that I had got a new raincoat, we had just been orienteering and my legs were acking whith all the running around.

The first thing that went wrong for me when we got there was that we had to were wetsuits! Which might not sound to bad but does it sound a tinny bit worse when first of all you get it on inside out? And then the roung way round? Anyway wonse they were finally on, whith my’n giving me a terible wedgy, we were given buoyancy aids and one heavy metal padle whith a rubber blade. Then we walked a short way down onto the slip way but carying all the equipment it felt like a mile!

At the end of the slip way there was a pile of what looked like really wide rubber sursbourds all whith the fin pointing upwards which made me think they were upside down. We were all given one and shown how to paddle and then we walked to the end of the slip way and went abhout waist hight into the water. Whith our paddle bourds flouting next to us we were sent out into the estuary in twos and threes, the next problem came now whith the bourd floating at waist hight its quite hard to get onto!

However once you were on the bourd, whith one knee ever side of the handle in the middle, it was quiet easy to move forwards and turn around. Except for Wiktoria because when she tried to turn around she ended up going backwards! It was also simple enough when you were standing up to not fall off, that  is untill a boy from Templeton jumps onto the end of your bourd!!
