Stand Up Paddle Bording at Llanion Cove

It was dark and wet…VERY WET. It was late when my group did stand up paddle boarding. It was a orange-sunset and the night was creeping in very slowly.

I couldn’t wait to get into the water. The tide was going out. In my group from Templeton was Eysten, Charlie, Izzy, Morgan and Anwen and for Tavernspite was Osian, Megan, Mili Hughes and Wiktoria. When we got to the activity instructor we had to get into wet suits. They are a nightmare! But if the wet suits are dry there are not much of a nightmare. 20 mins later we are ready to roll! YEAH!

When we got in Osian fell in on his knees while he was on his paddle board! It was so funny! Then we learnt how to go forwards and backwards and how to turn left and right. The instructors told us to try not to get stuck in the mud banks. But guess who got stuck in the mud banks… me. I had to get off my board and push it out of the mud bank but my trainers got covered in mud it was so disgusting!

Everyone tried to stand up without falling of but me Eysten and Osian  fell in a few times, but the funny thing was when Eysten jumped on to Mili Hughes board and made Mili fall of!

It was getting dark but the lesson stopped. It was a great lesson and i hope to do it again soon!I recommend you try it as it is great fun!

Dicso at Llanion Cove

It was fun…..VERY fun.Me and my friends had lots of fun dancing and singing to all of our favorite songs! I did so much dancing.Once we got there Caitlin took a girls photo and we all did silly faces.

After dinner we were escorted from the dinner hall to get ready for the disco we had on Wednesday night. The  music was really loud and the light were bright. The Tavernspite and some of the Templeton girls and the Tavernspite and some of the Templeton  boys tried to have a dance battle but it didn’t work out very well.

My favorite song came on ‘ Despicito by Justin Bieber’ I knew all the words and I was singing my hart out. Then the Macarena went on and all of us was dancing the wright moves to it. Guess what was on a few songs after was Cha Cha slide, again we all knew the correct moves.I was getting hot… Very hot.

Then I went outside to get some air it was very dark. Me, Ruby, Izzy, Anwen, Ellenor and a few others went crazy with our dance moves it was so fun and then the boys started a conger line witch me and a few other girls joined on to. It was amazing.

It was getting late and the louder we got the louder the music got. The disco went on forever. It was so fun. Then the party was over. Best night ever.

Disco at Llanion Cove

We got there Wednesday morning, it was pouring it down and my favorite activity was the stand up paddle boarding.

On Thursday night after our dinner me had about 30 mins to go and put some tidy clothes on for the disco. After the long half an hour we finally got to go to the disco, it was great.Mr Gandy was dancing like a crazy chicken and Mr Davies was too. Some of my favorite song came on. The disco was next to the climbing place where you do team building. Also i learnt a cool new dance move (The Worm).  Me and charlie were doing a move called the apple. It was where you tucked up in a ball like a tuck position and just jumped around and around and around it was pretty boring but it was funny . Aaron started the conga but apparently we were going too fast Mrs Arthur said so we stopped. The boys had a dance competition against the girls but obviously the boys won.

The Disco was the best but it had to end at some point. I think it ended at about half eight or nine. Anyway after the disco we went back up to our rooms but me, Osian,Charlie and Aaron didn’t know we got to have hot chocolate and a biscuit. The hot chocolate didn’t taste much like a hot chocolate it tasted more like just hot water. After the hot chocolate we went back to our rooms. I was so tired i nearly couldn’t brush my teeth but i had one bit of energy left to brush my teeth and plonk into bed.

Climbing at Llanion Cove

It was our first day at llanion cove and it was raining .But luckily we were  climbing. For a warm up activity our instructor told us to climb around the bottom of the wall with some one behind us (just in case we fell ) . Then we swapped. Next it was time to put harnesses on , I struggled to get mine on but with some help finally I did .

Our instructor said to split into two groups and everyone split up in to boys and girls .Then he explained how to get up and down in different ways and  we got started . The girl group climbed the higher wall first. It was quite steep and tricky in parts and I was one of the last to climb, but it went so quick I didn’t notice . When it was my go I went up surprisingly quickly and gained the nickname spider woman .

Next it was time to go on the smaller wall.  This was much easier to climb than the first wall because it was shorter and not so steep.  On the way down Brooke let go of the rope by accident and I fell on the floor . The next activity was to climb the harder walls, this was really fun even though I cheated ,because there was a ledge in the middle of the wall and you where meant to go over it but I just went around it . We took our harnesses and our helmets off .Time went so quick it was the end already.

Canoeing Catastrophe

The wind was high as I made my raft out of two canoe’s and a piece of rope. My team and me carried our raft down to the waters edge. The water was cold and rough. We clambered in and set off.

I was glad I didn’t have to put a wet suit on (because they were wet and hard to put on).  When we got round the corner we were racing the other boat. We were catching up fast, (or they were just going slower than we were). We kept rowing. When we got round the bend we stopped in a part of the river on the side, out of the roaring wind.

The instructor told us that if, when he said “if you have…..” we would have to stand up and swap with someone else standing up. When Osian stood up and was swapping with someone he jumped onto the other side of the raft and Elze fell in backwards and then couldn’t get back in afterwards. That was quite funny to me and some others but maybe not for Elze. When he said stand up if you have a dog I had to stand up and swap with Charlie from Templeton school. When i was going to cross the plank of wood…….SPLASH!!! I fell into the water and got my only pair of trainers soaking wet and after canoeing I had climbing.

But luckily when we had finished canoeing and had gone to get changed Mili Hughes had a spare pair of trainers that she let me borrow for climbing and then the disco afterwards. To me falling in was the best part of the canoeing. I had lots of fun.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding…Fun?

The sun was shining, joy was in the air (as it was our first activity). But, the wetsuits were a problem however, we didn’t let that get in our way, finally we were off we started to get on at our knee depth (so we would not break the fin) we started on our knees until we got deeper so if we fell of we would not hit the mud. A bit after that he taught us how to turn and backwards paddle, the turning was hard but i got it in the end. As we got deeper some of us started to stand up me and Luke were the first and i promised him that if he fell in i would jump in, so i did because he “accidentally” fell in.After a bit we all smelt of sea and were soaking and talking about showers, the hardest bit was once you fell in your eyes were stinging (the wind was the only way to make them stop stinging) and it was hard to get back on the board.

When it was nearly our lesson over we all went to sore and our instructors( ceri and allan) told us to flip our boards over and two people got on and tried to bobble them off so if someone didn’t fall of standing up they got soaking wet then (I went up against Teagan and we both jumped off at the same time so we would both win).My favorite bit over all was jumping off because it was so fun and we all got a warm shower at the end.But it was a big struggle to get the wet suit off at the end, after we got the suit off we dunked them off in a bucked of water.

Llanion Cove Sailing

It was the last day of the trip, I felt sad but was looking forward to sailing on a boat in water. The start of the day was okay, but the breakfast was the same as yesterday, beans on toast. The crust was ROCK solid!

After that, we stayed in our dormitories to pack our bags. We had a full hour to pack our bags and Luke did it in a flash!  Then, we started to gather around in the stone circle to know about the activities we were doing. Most people knew what we were doing (somehow) but some people didn’t. We got in our groups and we were going Sailing . The instructors name was Sam and we headed down to the water where all the equipment is. The most annoying thing was that you have to put on a wet suit and those things are a nightmare to put on! We walked to the changing rooms and put on our wet suits on. But that wasn’t the only thing we had to put on we also had to put on a thin called bouncy jacket, I had no clue what this thing was. At least, it was easier to put on than a wet suit.

The instructor Sam showed us the boats and we had to get in a group of 3 in each boat. I got in a group with Tom from Tavernspite and Tom from Templeton. We took our boats into the water and hopped in. I was steering first and the others were paddling. We were playing tag in the water using a football and we were it! We were allowed to tag people once we got to a certain point in the water. We kept on getting sucked onto the shallow part and I kept on having to go out of the boat to push the boat out of the shallow area. I swapped with steering into paddling because Tom kept shouting at me for being a bad sailor. The steering part was quite relaxed but tom kept on shouting at me. I didn’t know if there was another way to control the steering! We eventually got to the point and were able to tag some people. Our first sight that was closest to us were Ellie, Megan and Caitlin I wasn’t very sure though. We were able to tag them by throwing the ball at them, but then we got sucked in again and Tom from Templeton pushed us back out. It was quite funny when the team we tagged dropped the ball in the water and they took quite long just to get it. We kept on going away from the taggers but they eventually got the ball and started to come for us! They successfully catched up with us and threw it at us but then we just threw it back at them and it bounced off in the water and off we went to run away! We ran away, then just chilled for a bit  but then we got sucked in again! Someone had to get out and I think that was me. After a bit, Sam helped a lot of people out of the shallow are because they were stuck and then it was the end. He got us all in his boat and tied all of the other boats with string or rope. We went back to land in his fast automatic boat and it started to rain. It was horrible! I felt cold, tired and couldn’t move my legs. We got of the boat and i felt terrible I ran after putting my boat back. I couldn’t wait until we got in the changing rooms and got in the shower. It was so hot! It felt life saving and i could literally stand under the shower for the rest of my life (that would be a bit stupid though). I got into my normal clothes. But, this wasn’t the end of the activity. There was this other game after the sailing (I forgot what it was called) but it was fun. It was to test your balance and what you have to do is put weight of your foot on something and lie back. I think it was sailing but the sailing we did i think was kayaking. I got the record of 1 minute and 36 seconds. The sailing was a lot like canoeing just with a steering part to it. Finally it was the end, Sailing was my favourite activity.

Stand up paddle bords at Llaion Cove

It was very cold and windy outside but I still was very exited about the stand up paddle bords.

Firstly we all went to the stone circle where the instroucter was waiting. He gave us the wet suits! I really hate the wet suits they are a nightmare to put on but after we put are cold wet suits on we also put a life jacket on. We got our paddles and off we went down to the sea were we saw the paddle bords they were big. Then our instroucter told us how to turn right and left and how to neel on the bords I was so exited about gettin on our padle bords finally we pushed our paddle bords on to the sea nd neeled on them.At first I diden’t do well the wind kept pushing me the way that I diden’t want to go and when I tried turning I went backwards! But after a while a got control of the bord an then the instroucter told us how to stand on a paddle bord I tried at first the bord wobbled after a minet it stoped wobbeling In my opinion I did well and I was so happy with my self that I can stand on a paddle bord I fort it will be harder a lot harder but it was easy. Later on I got out o control and my bord started going backwards which was bad because behind me there was a big mud pit I nearly got stuck in it but luckely in the last minet I got in control again and I paddled to wards Mili. After I was talking to Mili whilst I was paddling and also I kept banning into Cian and Cian kept saying “Wiktoria stop banning into me!” but I coulden’t do anything about it cause it was the wind pushing me to wards him so he shoulden’t be angry on me he should be angry on thhe wind. Next I want to Mili and when I got there she was in the water she said that someone from Temploten jumped on her bored after it was nearly the end and MR Phelps took a picture with his phone he took two on the first one everyone was on their paddle bords and on the second one nearly everyone was in the water exept me, Mili and Cian I diden’t want to go in cause Mili said that the water is freezing cold and Mili said that she diden’t want to go in because she was still a bit cold from the water and about Cian I don’t know why. After the pictures the instructer told us to came to him it took a bit of time to get to him but finally i got to him then he started to send us in groups of three and a minet before he came out he fell in the water he was soking wet I went out last with Mili and Osian. Me and Mili carried paddels I carried three and Mili carried three the metal one was a bit heavy and also when I was walking you coud hear the water in my shoes my shoes were full of water then we gave the paddles to the instroucter and he hide them. Me and Mili took our life jackets off and went to the changing room we changed into our clothes and put our wet suits on the pages outside and our shoes back in the box outside and when back to our rooms. The stand up paddle bords where super fun it was the best activeti for me!

Canadian Canoeing

When we got to Llanion Cove on Wednesday it was cold and rainy I thought that would be the weather for the whole trip(that would be a spoiler), luckily it wasn’t it turned out to be a lovely warm day with the sun shining brightly down at us.

Then we got into our rooms, I was in a room with Thomas, Aaron and Osian. The day flew past it was like travelling at 100 MPH(Miles Per Hour)

After a good first night sleep I was ready for the challenges ahead of me I knew it was going to be a good day today because we had Canadian canoeing in the morning. Once we had our breakfast we met our instructors and told us what to get and meet them by the wetsuits. OH NO! We had to wear wetsuits it took me like 20 minutes to put it on! I rushed down to the instructors to get an boency aid on and to wait for everyone else. After 5 minutes everyone was ready so we headed down to the canoes and lifted them on the estuary, the boat was very heavy, then we were off. The instructor told us to put our paddles up high in the air so the wind can take us, then we made our way so it was deep enough for us to have a challenge on the long plank of wood connecting the two boats together. The challenge was that we had to get across to the other side of the boat without falling into the water, I fell of every time I had a go I was terrible at balancing with the waves crashing into the boat eventually after we all had a go on walking the plank we then went about 800 meters across the estuary  to do an belly flop competition. Oscar was the first to go it was a massive splash he really did a good job but he couldn’t stop me I was just about to belly flop but a huge wave hit the boat and instead of doing a belly flop I did a back flop. I thought I was going to win but then came Mr Davies with the biggest fail you would of seen in your life the splash could shake the whole world. Then sadly we headed back but they had another challenge for us. They said who could do a full 360 turn the fastest wins. Then for the last time we paddled back =(. That was the fun time canoeing.

Stand up padle bourding at Llanion cove

It was the first day we were there, at Llanion cove, and I am not going to lie that I thought this activity was going to be my least favourite. It had been raining on and off all day and I was glad that I had got a new raincoat, we had just been orienteering and my legs were acking whith all the running around.

The first thing that went wrong for me when we got there was that we had to were wetsuits! Which might not sound to bad but does it sound a tinny bit worse when first of all you get it on inside out? And then the roung way round? Anyway wonse they were finally on, whith my’n giving me a terible wedgy, we were given buoyancy aids and one heavy metal padle whith a rubber blade. Then we walked a short way down onto the slip way but carying all the equipment it felt like a mile!

At the end of the slip way there was a pile of what looked like really wide rubber sursbourds all whith the fin pointing upwards which made me think they were upside down. We were all given one and shown how to paddle and then we walked to the end of the slip way and went abhout waist hight into the water. Whith our paddle bourds flouting next to us we were sent out into the estuary in twos and threes, the next problem came now whith the bourd floating at waist hight its quite hard to get onto!

However once you were on the bourd, whith one knee ever side of the handle in the middle, it was quiet easy to move forwards and turn around. Except for Wiktoria because when she tried to turn around she ended up going backwards! It was also simple enough when you were standing up to not fall off, that  is untill a boy from Templeton jumps onto the end of your bourd!!
